2021 April Newsletter

Greetings from The Keystone Project and all our disciples in the nations!

The Lord is working in so many ways to fulfill His purposes in all things. What a powerful revelation it is to know that our God is a missionary God. He is always on the mission of making Himself known in the nations. His work and blessings upon His people are designed to reveal His love and glory to all who are lost. Our prayer for you is from Psalm 67:

“GOD BE GRACIOUS TO US AND BLESS US, AND CAUSE HIS FACE TO SHINE UPON US – SELAH. THAT YOUR WAY MAY BE KNOWN ON THE EARTH, YOUR SALVATION AMONG ALL THE NATIONS. LET THE PEOPLES PRAISE YOU, O GOD; LET ALL THE PEOPLES PRAISE YOU. LET THE NATIONS BE GLAD AND SING FOR JOY; FOR YOU WILL JUDGE THE PEOPLES WITH UPRIGHTNESS AND GUIDE THE NATIONS ON THE EARTH. LET THE PEOPLES PRAISE YOU, O GOD; LET ALL THE PEOPLES PRAISE YOU. THE EARTH HAS YIELDED ITS PRODUCE; GOD, OUR GOD BLESSES US. GOD BLESSES US, THAT ALL THE ENDS OF THE EARTH MAY FEAR HIM.” (NASB)

Indeed, it has been a blessed time as we get ready for the upcoming season. We are currently preparing for the summer discipleship internship and are expecting eleven interns to join us this year. There is still time to apply for the internship on our website. The Lord is also bringing us some of His chosen beloved children to work with us during the summer. We earnestly prayed for older, mature Christians to join us this summer, so that our staff could devote more time to discipling the interns. As always, Jesus answered our prayers.

We will conduct a five-day training from May 17-21 here in Keystone. You can apply online at our website. Aside from an initial $25 application fee, the training, food, and lodging are provided at no other cost to our students. We trust the Lord to provide for us, and He always does. It is a joy and privilege to live by faith!

The Keystone Project Online Academy is developing well under the direction of David Saldivar, our Director of Global Ministry. On March 4, we conducted a coaches’ orientation for the academy coaches. They are diligently working with leaders from the nations as they complete their academy courses. Please pray for both coaches and students as this endeavor will allow us to train many people who cannot come to Keystone for the training.

We continue to help distribute food here in Keystone. Many residents have lost their jobs as businesses in the area have been forced to close, due to the pandemic.

Please continue to earnestly pray for our disciples in Myanmar. This morning, I received a report from one of our disciples that the military entered his town and killed eleven people. It appears that this violence is random and is designed to instill fear in everyone. The military takeover there has resulted in civil protests and government restrictions on communication and travel.

Please also join us in prayer for the work in Pakistan, Bhutan, Northeast India, Nepal, Sri Lanka, and the many nations of Africa and Latin America as well. Especially pray for the disciples we have in Nigeria, who face violent persecution from rebel and Islamic groups. Pray that there will be no new surges of the pandemic in these countries and that the US embassies will open up, allowing students to travel here for the training. Let us continue to pray for local churches to reopen and to come out of this pandemic stronger than ever.

Thank you so much for your prayers and support. Many of you have continued to sacrificially give to The Keystone Project even in these difficult times. Your generous support and prayers are bearing much fruit in the nations. It is an honor to serve alongside you in completing the work of the Great Commission. May the Lord bless you and keep you, in Jesus’ name!

The Keystone Project Online Academy

Greetings from the City of Houston,

I am blessed to let you know that God-given strategies to further our mission of training international leaders to fulfill the Great Commission are coming our way in many forms. We’ve had a great first quarter for The Keystone Project Online Academy. We are seeing the growth of enrolled students from different areas of the world. God is leading the way in expanding the cohort of Online Academy coaches, ready to lead missionary leaders to the mission with our distance-training model. Most importantly, we are receiving great reports about our students’ online experience. One of the biggest questions we’ve had all along about the Online Academy is: “Would this environment promote the same transformational experience that students receive when they come to a local South Dakota training?” Well, God has done it again! We are getting tremendous feedback about how God is taking our students through a paradigm shift, resulting in a passion for fulfilling the Great Commission. Here is an excerpt from an assignment on the “Kairos and Chronos” devotional, completed by one of our students from Rwanda:

“In this video, where we are taught about faith and the description of its chief qualities and operation, God showed me clearly what was my faith; I found myself among those who have consumeristic faith, because I was always seeking things from my Lord… How egocentric am I? And now, I repent to God; this is not the faith I should have, as it can’t contribute to God’s prophetic purposes. I realized how much my life is defined and controlled by Chronos in what I do, in what I want, and in what I need. I felt ashamed and decided that, from now on, I have to look for God’s time and be prepared and ready for Kairos, so that I won’t miss it. As we went through the qualities of prophetic faith, I managed to verify one by one what were the qualities of my faith! And I found that I was in the wrong direction, and I repent again.”

This kind of response reflects the power of the Word and the work of the Holy Spirit. This particular disciple is currently engaged on the mission and finding ways to multiply God’s glory in her nation.

We are also particularly excited about the endless possibilities of the emergence of online training hubs. We are currently working with some African and Asian leaders to figure out ways to set up these online training hubs in their areas, in order to train missionary leaders who are already working on the field. As we continue to expand, we also have a team working on the Spanish translation of the Online Academy, and we will assemble a team to start working on the French translation soon. Our chief goal for 2021 is to have the Online Academy translated into Spanish and French by the end of the year. We are also planning numerous live trainings over Zoom to introduce The Keystone Project in unreached nations. Please continue to pray for the funding of all these projects, for gifted and anointed translators who can work with us, for more laborers and coaches who can adapt to the challenges of coaching remotely, and for God-connections with key leaders around the world who can partner with us to make our training available to as many people as possible. We appreciate your prayers and generous support!

For His Glory!

Equipping Laborers across North America: May 17-21, 2021

The Keystone Project team of staff and volunteers is looking forward to our next training event for residents of the US and Canada over May 17-21, 2021. Although the last year and a half has been exceptionally challenging for us to host our in-person training events, our leadership team has confirmed that we are definitely moving forward with this training. Of course, we will still implement some procedures and precautions to help keep our participants safe from the possible spread of COVID-19. But as we maintain these safety measures, we are excited to finally host another group of students and invest this week in community with them.

While we already have several students registered for this training, we still have plenty of room available at this point, and we are still accepting applications. To apply for this training, please fill out the Training Application Form on our website. (If you are applying from outside the US and Canada, you can register for the international training in October, which is also confirmed to move forward.) There is a $25 fee to submit the application; however, the training conference, lodging, and meals are provided at no additional charge. The training will take place at our Ministry Center in Keystone, SD, USA, surrounded by the beautiful Black Hills.

In this intensive weeklong training, students will attend a total of four sessions each day. This will include several devotional messages, designed to ignite their hearts with a passion to glorify God in the nations. It will also include a series of equipping lessons, designed to give them the vision and the tools they need to make disciples who make disciples by the power of the Holy Spirit. At the end of each day, students will break up into small groups and meet with their coaches; each coach will help their students process what they are learning, envision it in their own context, and successfully implement it in their own life and ministry. Through the course of the training, students will undergo a radical paradigm shift from building-centered, program-based, attractional ministry to kingdom-centered, Spirit-lead, missional discipleship.

As we prepare for this training, we ask you to join us in prayer for the students who will be coming, that God would open the doors for the right ones to attend and that He would prepare them to be transformed and equipped for the work of the Great Commission. We are looking for students who want to be missionaries – who are willing to reach outside the comfort and security of their churches and lay down their lives for the unreached. Jesus told His disciples, “‘The harvest is plentiful, but the laborers are few; therefore, beseech the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into His harvest’” (Luke 10:2, NASB). It is our hope and our prayer that the Lord of the harvest will equip more and more laborers through this training and that He will send them out to the unreached parts of the harvest, where He has called them. If you feel that the Lord is leading you to go through this training, we invite you to visit our website and fill out the application. We would love to have you join us and to see how God uses you to multiply disciples in His harvest!
